We discovered IOS doesn’t like the 169.254 IP range. Cerise had their units come by default Unicast would generally be a best effort attempt to bypass WiFi and such, making the whole experience a bit better and foolproof.
If you change your IP address to something else, wether you have WiFi or not, as long as you select prefer wired it should be fine over sACN
Broadcast also requires set usb default gateway to be on
A 169.x.x.x IP address means the device did not receive a DHCP address — so there’s no active network detected at all, not just no internet. This is standard networking behavior, not something iOS/device-specific.
That’s why we de-prioritize this IP range even if you have “Prefer Wired” checked in Link Status. If you’re on any Wi-Fi network with “Prefer Wired” enabled and a 169.x.x.x IP, you won’t be able to output to your Cerise.
The fix is simple: set the default USB IP in the Cerise network config to 172.20.0.1. That’s it. Once you do that, you won’t run into this issue again as long as you’re using Blackout + Cerise. Unless you HAPPEN upon a wifi connection to a 172.20.x.x network at the same time - and even then you'd still output to the Cerise just might not be able to bring up the web config for the Cerise until you disconnect from wifi.
