๐Ÿš€ Choose Modern Might

For the best Blackout experience, we recommend the latest USB-C iPad models. These devices provide enhanced performance, superior connectivity, and are ready for future updates and features we have in store.

The current powerhouse that also includes future proofed Wifi 7

This is our current workhorse โ€” a gorgeous 13" display paired with Appleโ€™s M4 chip.

๐Ÿ“ฆ Do I Need the Upgraded Storage?

Blackout is pretty lightweight, so you donโ€™t need a 1TB or 2TB model.

However, those higher-capacity models come with a better CPU and 16GB RAM โ€” a definite plus if you're planning to run heavier effects or lots of simultaneous cues.

๐Ÿ”Œ Connectivity Essentials

Go USB-C over Lightning. A good hub is key for connecting to lighting networks (via Ethernet) and USB MIDI controllers. USB-C hubs give you more ports and more power โ€” itโ€™s a win-win.

Jeff personally owns multiple UtechSmart USB-C hubs (paid affiliate link) โ€” and never travels without a backup!

๐Ÿ“ฑ Bigger is Better (Screen Size)

We recommend iPads with screens 10.2โ€ or larger.

Yes, the iPad Mini can run Blackout, but the small screen limits navigation and the overall experience isnโ€™t as strong.

โš™๏ธ Minimum Requirements

We recommend at least an M2 iPad for the best performance. That said, many users run Blackout successfully on older models. Just be aware: older hardware may struggle with advanced effects or large projects.
